<title>Blackwater River Yipwon, Papua New Guinea</title>
<link>http://www.newguineaart.com/art-artifacts/view-image/blackwater-river-yipwon-papua-new-guinea</link><description> Blackwater River Yipwon - Yipwons or wanlegs are most well known from the Karawari river. They are also called cult hooks. They are also made on the nearby Blackwater river but most I have seen from this area are modern, painted black, and not overly attractive. This one has a particularly nice form and shows a fair amount of age, circa 1965. It does not appear to have ever been painted, which is more traditional. It is 18.25 inches tall and is mounted. <title>Ancient House Board, Upper Sepik River, Papua New Guinea</title>
<link>http://www.newguineaart.com/art-artifacts/view-image/ancient-house-board-upper-sepik-river-papua-new-guinea</link><description> Ancient House Board, Upper Sepik River - This is fragment of a larger men's house architectural board. In spite of it being that, it is a wonderful and powerful old piece.  It was collected on the upper Sepik, April River area or Swagup village in the mid-1960's and dates to the very early part of the 20th century. It has no paint left but this wonderful deep brown patina over the whole piece. The light colored spot on the upper left is what is left of an old mud dauber nest. It could easily be cleaned off I just chose to leave it since it is part of the piece's history. It is 41.5 inches long. Priced at $250 Shipping within the US is free. <title>Kundu Hourglass Drum, Wosera, New Guinea</title>
<link>http://www.newguineaart.com/art-artifacts/view-image/kundu-hourglass-drum-wosera-new-guinea</link><description> Kundu Hourglass Drum - This is a superb and very old kundu from the Abelam village of Yintokau. It was collected in situ in April of 1975 and dates to the early part of the 20th century. Really nicely carved using primitive tools with a nice dark patina and lots of age polish and wear. As you can see there are cracks but, they are old old cracks and the drum is solid. A superb old drum. It is 21.25 inches tall.    Priced at $1000 Shipping within the US is free. <title>Very Rare Abstract Talipoon Face, Boiken people, New Guinea</title>
<link>http://www.newguineaart.com/art-artifacts/view-image/very-rare-abstract-talipoon-face-boiken-people-new-guinea</link><description> Very Rare Abstract Talipoon Face - Talipoons are made in the Boiken area out of the large green snail shells decorated with a woven "face". They are traded all over the region and are important parts of the bride price ceremony. Most talipoon faces have some sort of imagery, either human or animal, on them even if quite abstract. This rare face is purely abstract and, I think, quite lovely. I really like the filigree design woven on the face along with the delicate colors. It was collected in the Boiken village of Suondo in February of 1975 by Ron Perry and dates to the mid-20th century. It is 11.75 by 7.5 inches and comes with a stand. Priced at $600 Shipping within the US is free. Contact me for shipping outside the US. Inquire or order: #8553     </description>
