Balsa Yam Ceremony Head - Yam heads like this are generally attached to a headdress made of basketry or wood and then attached to the giant yams the men grow for each year´s yam cycle ceremonies. Painted with clay and vegetable-based pigments. Collected in the Wosera village of Mikau in March of 1977. Pre-1965. 6.25 inches tall on a custom mount.
