This fun ancestor figure with a very stylized hornbill totemic bird was collected by long-time Native Affairs Patrol Officer Bruce D. Lawes, who began his career in the area in 1947. He collected this piece in situ between 1955 and 1969. It was exhibited in 2003 at State University of New York Plattsburgh in the exhibit “We Shout To Make It Silent” curated by Marc Assayag of Tookalook Gallery, Quebec Canada. I have included here the page from that catalog. It has a nice age polish, no paint remaining, if there ever was any. It is 21.75 inches tall.
