This old lower Sepik mask is beautifully carved and has a lot of paint left on it. It is circa 1970 or older. The trim around the edge is from rice bags and is tightly woven. You see rice bag stitching on a number of pieces from this era. I imagine it appealed because it has a nice color and is far  more durable than rattan. It is 20 inches tall.
