Masks of New Guinea > Old Mwai Mask, Sangriman Village, New Guinea - 10965
This old mask was collected in the Blackwater River village of Sangriman in September of 1976. It is clearly much older, probably dating to the 1960’s or before. Painted with village-made clay-based paints and trimmed with grass. The nose has mud with shells and two tusk pieces or teeth set in it. It is 31.5 inches tall.
