Masks of New Guinea > Wooden Yam Mask, Maprik Area, New Guinea - 10975

A very nice wooden yam ceremony mask from the Ableam people around Maprik. It was collected in situ in September of 1976, although, it was probably only used in one yam ceremony. It is 26 inches tall and still brightly painted. As you can see he is missing a bit of one ear but that is an old break.
